How did you start out as a marketer?
I first got started in digital marketing when I was searching for ways to promote my own websites that I had made.
Eventually, this led me to work with other businesses looking to answer the same question for themselves.
My interest in both technology and business made digital marketing a perfect fit.
Looking back, what was your hardest struggle when it came to delivering results?
The hardest struggle with delivering results is making sure that the expectations are set right from the start.
I have always worked hard to make sure that we deliver on what we promised, but when there is miscommunication about what was promised, it can lead to disappointment.
As I have gained more experience and worked with more businesses, this has become less and less of a challenge.
How did you get your first client back then, and what kind of service did you do for them?
When I was first starting out, I tried every method possible for gaining clients for web design and SEO.
I had the most success leveraging online platforms such as Craigslist.
As I worked with more clients, eventually word of mouth became a great source for leads.
Now, alongside those strategies, we employ paid ads, lead magnets, and other techniques to gain clients and exposure.
What do you find most rewarding about what you do?
The most rewarding thing is helping other businesses do what they do best.
Most business owners don’t have the technical skills to do everything our team does, but they are amazing at other aspects of their business.
I’m proud we can help free business owners time up and let them do what they do best.
We have a lot of readers who are bent on becoming freelancers. Aside from freelancing, how else can someone earn online? And what is your advice?
There are so many ways to earn money online that the opportunities are really endless.
It’s important to find something that fits your current situation and lifestyle.
The great thing about freelancing is that you can get paid quickly, and the money is guaranteed as long as you can find and complete the job.
Once you have a few good clients, the work can be relatively stable.
The problem with freelancing is that you are essentially trading your time for money.
If you are okay with this, then freelancing can be a great option, but if you are looking for financial freedom, it will be hard to achieve.
The richest companies in the world are all making their money online. Look at what they are doing.
Which one book or blog post would you recommend every marketer read?
I was always a big fan of Viperchill (Glen Allsopp) and would recommend his blog.
What advice would you share with other marketers who want to become more productive?
Focus on the day-to-day tasks; working consistently every day is the key to productivity.
